The Practice of Living Purposefully

Lilit Amiraghayn

Having a purpose in life means controlling own life. It means to choose and follow certain values and ideas, and making sure that we act in accordance to them.

Living with purpose means to direct our actions to our purpose, so that we don't stop in the middle of the way, get lost among other opportunities or loose ourselves in efforts to be accepted by others, etc.

According to J. Gray, the practice of living purposefully entails:

1. Taking responsibility for formulating my goals and purposes consciously.

2. Being concerned to identify the actions necessary to achieve my goals.

3. Monitoring behavior to check that it is in alignment with my goals.

4. Paying attention to the outcomes of my actions, to know whether they are leading where I want to go.
