Living consciously entails:

  1. A mind that is active rather than passive.

  2. An intelligence that takes joy of its own function.

  3. Being "in the moment," without losing the wider context.

  4. Reaching out toward relevant facts rather than withdrawing from them.

  5. Being willing to see and correct mistakes.

  6. Being concerned to distinguish among facts, interpretation, and emotions.

  7. Noticing and confronting my impulses to avoid or deny painful or threatening realities.

  8. Being concerned to know if my actions are in alignment with my purposes, etc.
